Ramadhan Is Coming!

Hello & Assalamualaikum

InsyaAllah Ramadhan will starts the day after tomorrow or in 2 days more (in Malaysia). In fact I was very excited to celebrate Ramadhan this year. Could be it's because of last year for the first-time I don't have chance to spend more time with my family during Ramadhan as I just entered my college.

Ramadhan is the month of Muslims will be fasting from Fajr to Maghrib. It's not only about refrain ourselves from hunger but it's also for us to avoid doing bad things.

It's actually reasonable for us to get excited of this month called Ramadhan. There are some hadiths that stated the privilege of Ramadhan that we won't get in other months.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When Ramadan enters, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed and the devils are chained.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Al-Qadhi I'yadh said this Hadith can be interpriated as the glory of the Ramadhan month itself. "The devils are chained" here in Majaz Kinayah (figuratively) means

less deception from devils towards human. We will only refrain towards our own desireby not doing any misdeed.

In another hadith,

Abu Hurayrah reported that the Rasulullah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Every action a son of Adam does shall be multiplied—a good action by ten times its value, up to 700 times. Allah says: With the exception of fasting, which belongs to Me, and I reward it accordingly. For, one abandons his desire and food for My sake.
There are two occasions of joy for a fasting person: one when he breaks his fast, and the other when he meets his Lord, and the (bad) breath (of a fasting person) is better in the sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk. (Al-Bukhari)

Since our rewards for every good deeds will be multiplied, we should seize this opportunity to increase our worship towards Allah Subahanahu Wa Ta'ala. Here I've created a checklist for everyday use in Ramadhan so that we can track our activity then not wasting the time that Allah has lent to us in this great month. I recommend you to print it out to make it easier for you to track your daily practices.

you can add more sunnah activites such as suhoor, tasbih prayer, dzikir, etc. It's advisable to also note down any makrooh things that you did in a piece of paper. Hence, you'll know your flaws and know how to improve yourself. InsyAllah I hope this checklist will help you to utilize the Ramadhan along with makes Ramadhan this time better than in the previous years.

Additional tips we can do in this Ramadhan (I'll also try to keep doing these)

  1. since we are still in MCO, it's great to perform Jama'ah prayer instead of you pray alone.

  2. do tadarus Al-Quran. Finish Quran together!

  3. like the tips from the previous post, take qailulah. Qailulah is actually a sunnah that will ease you to wake up in the late of night. So that you can perform qiamulail.

  4. avoid social media. As you know social media is a medium where we can easily spread slanders, negativity and gossips. It also the place where we will easily can't take care of our sight. You should do social media detoxing for a month 😉

That is it! I wish this entry will give an effective ideas how to spend your time during Ramadhan wisely. Hopefully we can boost our spiritual and be a superior Muslim. May Allah guide all of us.

If this is useful for you, spread it by sharing it to your family & friends !

السلام عليكم
